Plain-language summary
Ocho is designed as a private voice inbox for your ideas. We use microphone access only when you choose to record. We process recordings to transcribe and sort notes, then save the resulting notes and categories to your account. Optional reminders and lingering thought notifications can help you come back to notes later. We do not sell your personal data.
Ocho requests microphone permission so you can record voice notes. Audio may be sent to our Firebase Cloud Functions and Google Gemini for transcription and sorting. Ocho does not intentionally keep audio files after processing; your saved note text, titles, categories, and account state may remain in your account until deleted.
Data we collect
Account data
- Firebase user ID.
- Email address if you sign up with email.
- Google account profile information provided during Google sign-in, such as your email and basic profile identifier.
- Anonymous account identifier if you use demo or guest access.
Voice note and app content
- Audio recording data while a voice note is being processed.
- Transcripts, cleaned note text, note titles, categories, and category descriptions.
- Reminder dates, notification preferences, and reminder state when you choose to use reminder features.
- App state needed to sync your notes and categories across sessions.
- Notes, transcripts, titles, categories, and account data may be stored in Firebase and made available to you across Ocho surfaces, including the mobile app and web dashboard.
Usage, purchase, and technical data
- Rate-limit and usage counters for AI features.
- Device notification permission status, push notification tokens, or local notification identifiers needed to deliver optional reminders where supported.
- Subscription and entitlement status through RevenueCat and the app stores, if paid features are enabled.
- Device, app, and diagnostic information provided by Firebase, Google Play, RevenueCat, and platform services.
Voice and audio processing
When you record a note, Ocho captures audio on your device. To provide transcription and smart sorting, the audio may be sent to Firebase Cloud Functions, which may forward it to Google Gemini. The response is used to create a transcript, title, cleaned note, and category suggestion.
Ocho is built to save the useful text result, not a library of raw recordings. Audio is not intentionally stored as a user-facing file by Ocho after processing. Some temporary processing, logs, or provider-side handling may occur as part of cloud services.
Notifications and reminders
Ocho may offer optional note reminders and lingering thought notifications. You decide whether to enable these features. Your device may also ask for notification permission before Ocho can send reminders or nudges.
Reminder features may use note titles, note text snippets, scheduled reminder times, reminder preferences, device notification settings, and push tokens or local notification identifiers. Lingering thought notifications may use note age and note state to find older notes that may be worth revisiting.
You can turn reminders or lingering thought notifications off in the app or through your device notification settings. If notifications are disabled, Ocho may still save notes normally, but reminder notifications may not be delivered.
How we use data
- Provide recording, transcription, sorting, sync, and account features.
- Schedule optional reminders and lingering thought notifications when enabled.
- Let you view and manage your saved notes and categories from the app and dashboard.
- Authenticate users and protect accounts.
- Apply fair-use limits and prevent abuse of AI features.
- Process subscriptions, restore purchases, and unlock paid features.
- Debug crashes, improve reliability, and maintain security.
- Comply with legal, store, and platform requirements.
Retention and security
We keep account data, notes, categories, transcripts, purchase state, and usage counters while your account is active or as needed to operate Ocho. Deleted notes or account data may remain briefly in backups or logs before normal deletion cycles complete.
We use platform security controls from Firebase, Google Cloud, app stores, and device operating systems. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, but we design Ocho to collect only what is needed for the product.
Your choices and rights
- You can deny microphone permission, but recording features will not work.
- You can deny notification permission, turn off reminders, or disable lingering thought notifications. Reminder nudges will not work while notifications are disabled.
- You can edit or delete notes in the app.
- You can sign out or stop using the service at any time.
- You can request account deletion using the Delete Account page or any in-app account deletion flow we provide.
- Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data.
Children
Ocho is not intended for children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child provided data to Ocho, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Contact
For privacy requests, account deletion help, or policy questions, contact the developer using the support email listed on Ocho's Google Play listing or through the support channel shown inside the app.
